In this body of work, I deface and reface American currency by cutting portraits of fog droplets from American bills. By “portrait of a fog droplet” I mean the silhouette a fog droplet shows when condensed upon a surface. Through this act of portraiture, I replace the strict geometries of American money with the biomorphic fluidities of condensed fog; I replace the portraits of white men with portraits of water; and I remove the currency from the stream of desire, allowing it a forbidden stillness.
